. . . any depiction of animals that act as though they wish to be consumed. Suicide Food actively participates in or celebrates its own demise. Suicide Food identifies with the oppressor. Suicide Food is a bellwether of our decadent society. Suicide Food says, “Hey! Come on! Eating meat is without any ethical ramifications! See, Mr. Greenjeans? The animals aren’t complaining! So what’s your problem?” Suicide Food is not funny.
I agree, it’s not very funny. And a lot of what I saw there looks cannibalistic rather than suicidal, but in either case I probably won’t stop eating meat because of silly logos. But I do wonder about the illiterate cows in the Chick-fil-A ad campaign encouraging people to “eat mor chikin.”
Is this inter-species Murder Food?
I disagree with you, old friend. It is funny! I am not an Anthropomorphist, admiring the human qualities of Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, or Porky Pig. Nor am I an Animist: character in the nonhuman, soul in food and rocks and such. I do not subscribe to torturing animals or causing them undue suffering when they are slaughtered, but let me be blunt…animals as food taste really, really good (if cooked right).
To be more clear, it’s the blog that I feel is not funny. People who take this serious are on a bandwagon headed out to where the buses don’t run.
