OPEC sees the writing on the wall and fears Obama’s energy policies will move their best customer toward less dependence on their only product. It doesn’t matter at this point who you voted for, now is the time to support America against the economic terrorists called OPEC. While it may be uncomfortable or even painful now, in the long run we will be better off when we don’t need so much foreign oil. I say let them cut production, we’ll cut consumption by an equal or greater amount.
I agree. OPEC also cut production November 1st and, based on current gas prices, it didn’t do them much good. Apparently, Americans didn’t really increase their consumption, other than fuel for heat in winter. Perhaps we are learning, but things like this take a generation or two (but I don‘t think things have that long anymore).
I remember 30 years ago when I was in grade school being told the United States has enough coal to last 500 years. That was at the consumption rate then. I don’t believe now much of anything I was taught in grade school anymore, or high school for that matter. I am also skeptical of “clean coal” technology.
Brazil is the modern model for self sufficiency in energy. About thirty years ago they got serious about energy. They do not import one drop of foreign oil and forty percent of their fuel is home-grown bio fuel.
Now if they could just figure out how to make all that bio-fuel without slash and burn farming.
I’m pretty sure they use sugar for their bio fuels. I don’t know how much land they reclaimed to grow the stuff.
