Although I generally deplore anthropomorphistic photographs, this reminds me of what my mother would sometime say when we didn’t clean up the bedroom three of us shared as boys – “You must enjoy living like a bunch of pigs!“

Although I generally deplore anthropomorphistic photographs, this reminds me of what my mother would sometime say when we didn’t clean up the bedroom three of us shared as boys – “You must enjoy living like a bunch of pigs!“
The pigs in the picture are clean pigs. Pigs are a filthy -yet tasty- animal. As a boy in Iowa I worked on a farm for a summer. There we call them “hogs.” I was left alone to feed them and the farmer never came back, so I walked home. I left my shirt on a fence and it fell into the hog lot. The farmer later showed up at our house asking if I was ok. He found my shirt in the hog lot being trampeled the hogs. They will eat anything!
They say pigs have a very similiar DNA to humans, and some of their organs can be used in human transplants. Perhaps this is why you young boys living in close quarters enjoy living like pigs. Maybe it’s in their DNA.
I can hear her saying that. I can only speak for myself, but a lot has changed since those days.
No doubt things have changed. I am kind of a neat freak these days, but every one in a while, living like a pig just feels right. But only for a little while . . .
