What makes this photograph worth millions is another one of life’s little mysteries.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The artwork “99 Cent II Diptychon” from 2001 is a two part photograph made by Andreas Gursky probably in 1999, as the work is sometimes called “99 cent.1999”. The work became famous as being the most expensive photograph in the world when it was auctioned at Sotheby’s on February 7 in 2007 for a price of $3.34 million.
It’s an interesting picture, but I don’t know why it went for so much. Maybe it has to do with it being taken in 1999, before the turn of the century.
Marion said the “art” here was in finding someone dumb enough to pay so much for this picture. I totally agree with my daughter-in-law.
BTW, Gerda saw your picture and said you look like Brad Pitt in that hat.
What she likely meant to say was Brad Pitt looks like me, which gives me hope if I ever bump in to Angelina Jolie. No worries. Happens all the time.
Gerda says you are doing much better with T and two wonderful children and don’t need no inked-up Angelina. She still thinks the hat is great.
